We are restarting regular weekly prayer updates for London’s NHS. London is now in tier 2 of COVID restrictions and there is an increase in the numbers of people affected. Deaths due to COVID are still low, around 5 deaths a day are being reported in London, and hospitals reported last week to have about 20-30 COVID patients. These figures are much lower than that experienced in the spring but the NHS is starting to prepare for further increases.
For many staff the preparations are challenging as they bring to mind the difficulties they faced in the first wave. Pray for their peace and resilience. The way patients are managed, and their outcomes, has changed as medical staff have learnt more about COVID. Pray for those making decisions about the allocation of resources for COVID and normal medical conditions that they reflect the city’s needs. The increasing restrictions on people and the uncertainty around jobs and incomes is affecting many in London. Pray for those struggling with rents and basic bills for those fearful of the future.
Father we give our future to You. We place what the next few months will bring in terms of the economic, heath and social challenge into Your hands. We thank you that you care for us and our city so we chose to not worry about tomorrow, but ask for Your strength and wisdom to live this week well. Amen
