Havering’s infection rate has fallen since we highlighted it for prayer a couple of weeks ago. However, it is still the Borough with highest rate in London and in the top 10 nationally. East London is still a concern as are the Home Counties it adjoins. Weekly COVID-19 hospital deaths in London are continuing to increase, albeit slowly, with just around 200 deaths in the past week. Although as the graphic shows, infection rates vary significantly over the city, the increase in deaths and the higher rates in parts of London have led to discussion about London (or parts of it) moving to tier 3 when it is reviewed on Dec 16th.
Vaccinations have started to be rolled out in London’s hospitals and next week in some of its GPs surgeries. Provision of food hampers by churches for those in most need is happening at a large scale across the city. Pray for these practical efforts to meet the real needs within our city. Pray that as the church reaches out during this Advent season people respond to Jesus.
