Pippa a GP in North London outlines the issues facing those working in the Health sector, particularly in mental health services.
There is a large increase in the number of people needing treatment for mental health issues. There is uncertainty about the reasons for this, but pressures due to exams and work.
Referrals for specialised treatment in some parts of London have a waiting list of over a year. This affects families and primary care specialists who have to cope with the unresolved situation.
Doctors’ mental health is also an issue. Between 2014-2018 there were 400 suicides among doctors, many due to work.
- Pray for those with mental health issues. Pray for their healing and an end to the underlying causes.
- Pray for families impacted by members struggling with their mental health.
- Pray for increased funding and resources for mental health services in London.
- Pray for the health care workers struggling with huge work loads
- Pray for those struggling with suicidal thoughts, that they would be kept safe and find the appropriate help they need.
