Violence will no longer be heard in your land, nor ruin or destruction within your borders, but you shall call your walls salvation and your gates praise.
Isaiah 60:18
Prayer Points for praying about knife crime
- For an end to ‘the blame game’ & short term tactical solutions – for sustainable initiatives that enable us to create a different, better culture for this and future generations growing up in our inner cities
- For the families grieving for their children and the communities missing their friends – In the wake of an recent record number of stabbings & deaths in London last year we pray for those affected personally
- For joined up thinking – for the police, youth workers, policy makers, victims and families, to explore the challenges and look together to find a way forward
- For young people carrying knives – for those caught up in gang violence and post code wars we pray for someone to talk to and positive role models who help them choose peace
- For young people choosing not to carry knives – we pray for courage for these young people as they speak out against the rise in knife crime through their actions and words
- Pray for the church and the planning that came out of the Violent Crime Church Summit. Pray for the widespread implementation of effective strategies across the capital.
- Pray for an end to the culture of violence that affects London
“Seeing young people killed in our communities is tragic. The past does not have to define the future. We need to be courageous and look forward to sustainable strategic solutions that will deliver lasting change into these communities.”
