I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord.”
Psalm 122:1
God’s character and nature is revealed to us through our encounters with His presence. Travelling to the Temple was the occasion of the year and these songs of ascent would be sung on the journey. Although God was to be feared it didn’t dampen their joy that they could come into the house of God. Don’t be hesitant about coming into God’s presence – rejoice in it; don’t avoid it, especially if you know there are things that need dealing with. Come into the light of His presence for there you will find fullness of joy.
Let me know the joy of Your presence today. Remove things that may hinder me from entering Your presence. I give You thanks that You created today and I will rejoice, and be glad in it.
