Psalm 106:24-5 [The Israelites] did not believe His word, But complained in their tents.
God hates complaining more than I do. It can be annoying, but I wouldn’t be on my list of evil crimes. God hates it though; the Israelites died in the wilderness and did not get their inheritance because they complained too much. Why? Complaining is the language of unbelief and it kills faith – something that is so precious to God. I can imagine the Israelites going for coffee at their neighbour’s tent looking for sympathy as they complain to each other about the mess this Moses has got them into, as a result fear and unbelief spread through the community. Unbelief looks at the circumstances and can result in self-pity, but faith is different, it looks to God and his Word (which I’ll pick up on tomorrow). Father, help me to be content in every circumstance. May my mouth speak of Your faithfulness. Keep me from complaining and help me to believe Your words.
