Each week we will be posting an update which will have on Monday a topical prayer focus and then on the Wednesday will have prayer points to cover specific areas of London’s life and geography. This week’s prayer update is below and also on social media. Enjoy!
This week (22/6), we think and pray for Reading following the confirmed terrorist attack where 3 people lost their lives. In London there were no hospital deaths yesterday due to COVID, and anti-racism protests continued in Central London over the weekend. London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan has taken a pay cut in solidarity with Londoners and has admitted that he struggled to provide proper leadership at times during the lockdown.
We pray for our leadership in London. For those in formal positions of governance in our city, our MPs, Mayor, LAMs, Council leaders and leaders in the city’s spheres – church, NHS, business, police, education, media, entertainment, housing and welfare for example. Father, raise up leaders who speak with your voice and bring words of wisdom. Amplify the voices of those who carry Your heart.
We ask that as we emerge from lockdown, that you would lead us and provide us with those that are enabled to do that. Raise up Godly orators again in London to release your sound. People who preach your word with authority or craft words to bring clear leadership. May they release your Word to penetrate resistant structures, rebuke, convict and quiet ungodly storms. Give us leadership in our city that will hasten London into its destiny. Amen
