This year rather than having different prayer themes for each month of the year we are going to have 3 themes that we will pray into each quarter. These themes are the three themes that are central to the OneAccord initiative we are involved with this year:
- Leadership
- Peace
- Transformation
This month we start with praying for our leaders in London.
I’m aware that the year starts with the culmination of the Brexit process, but there are outside, the political arena many leaders across our city who also need our prayer. We need to pray for those co-ordinating the response to violence be they police officers, youth workers or policy advisors. In addition we need to pray for those leading our schools, hospitals, emergency services and businesses. Policy makers and planners looking to reduce London’s housing shortage or improve transport or social care need prayer.
The lists of leaders we could pray for is extensive, take some time and ask God who you should pray for today, if possible, mention them by name.
What should we pray for them?
- Wisdom – The ability to make right decisions requires wisdom and doing so without creating discord is a sign of true wisdom from above. Pray that God gives them wisdom.
- Counsel – Proverbs tells us that with good and numerous counsel there is safety, and success. Pray for the teams and advisors around each of these people that they would speak words of wisdom and hear the correct advice and information they need.
- Revelation – That the light of God would reveal God’s purpose and plan for them. For both their personal lives and for their area of responsibility. Creative ideas and solutions to the challenges that they meet.
- Blessing – Pray can release God’s blessing so speak prayers of blessing over them and what they do, and that they would come to know God.
- Pray for their families, health and personal lives – as leaders they are often in pressured situations and need protecting
Here’s a list of leaders in London to help you get started.
